Italy have one of the richest histories of any country when it comes to automotive production. Now one of Italy’s few electric motorcycle makers, Energica are releasing their new 180hp electric motor. Energica already have one of the most powerful electric drivetrains on the market but are still aiming to innovate further.
It was revealed from Energica’s recent US filing for compliance, that they are creating a 134Kw motor, this is a 22% increase on top of their current most powerful offering. Electric vehicles already have an acceleration that way outperforms combustion, so this increase in power by Energica will feel like a considerable power difference for riders.
It doesn’t appear that the new electric motor will be equipped on the new Energica Experia, but documents suggest there may be another model with this equipped. The Experia is Energica’s first sport tourer, opening access to a new consumer base for the company.
No further information is available about this Experia-based drivetrain for the electric motorcycle but hopefully more will be revealed at upcoming motorcycle shows. With all Energica’s electric motorcycles, only 30 minutes in needed for an almost full charge using DC fast charging.
