Renault have unveiled their new sub brand ‘Mobilize’ which will focus on electric vehicles and sustainable urban transport. This brand includes the new ‘Mobilize Duo’ which will replace the Renault ‘Twizy’. However the Duo will only be available on subscription or long-term lease only.
The Duo is classified as an electric quadricycle and Renault hope to target private customers, self employed professionals, car sharing options and company fleets. Renault have also showcased the ‘Bento’ model which is a cargo carrying version, providing 700 litres of extra carrying capacity.
The Duo is a rear wheel electric powered vehicle available in two versions, the 45, capable of 28mph (45 km/h) and can be driven without a licence from age 14 depending on location. And the Duo 80 capable of 50mph but will require a licence. The range estimation is quoted at 87 miles (pending certification)
The design is inspired by video gaming mixed with 80s and 90s stylings. Once major change is actually windows on the doors, now protecting the passengers from the elements.
The new upwards opening doors, also allow for more nifty urban mobility for tight spaces and enhanced safety for pedestrians and cyclists as they do not swing open.
Renault expect ‘Mobilize’ to represent 30% of its total turnover by 2030. The launch of Mobilize will include charging station, a diverse range of zero-emission transport solutions and servicing programmes.
Prices for the Duo will be available late 2023 and the Bento in 2024.
