Roam Electric Motorcycles Are Bringing Affordable Electric Vehicles To Africa

The Roam Air is the newest electric vehicle from Roam, with a focus on affordability, functional design and performance for an African market. With design features aimed at multi-terrain riding, both urban and rural, and cargo carrying features the Roam Air electric motorbike will offer a genuine electric option to African riders.

The updated frame allows for a dual battery system, meaning riders can charge one battery while riding with the other, allowing for maximum riding and reduced downtime. The all-terrain frame also contains a storage compartment in the tank and extra space in the subframe. The electric motorbike also comes with a modern user interface and mobile connectivity.

Right now, switching to an electric motorcycle could cut ownership costs by 60% due to the change in power and reduction of maintenance. The absence of clutch and gears makes the Roam air much more accessible to more riders. This electric motorbike arrives as the first fully adapted electric motorcycle for the African market, while also remaining at the affordable price of $1500. Combined with the reduced running cost this could make a large effect to African transport.

The Roam is built, designed and developed for and in Africa. This means the bike is specifically created for the riders of the continent. Roam are looking to ramp up production in Nairobi in the coming months due to large consumer interest in the area. They intended to also expanded their distribution channels to include swapping station owners, financiers and large commercial clients.
