Biktrix, a Canadian electric bike company, has unveiled the Juggernaut XD, its most powerful e bike to date. This electric bike features a 2000W central motor, the Bixtrix designs XD dual drive system.
The Bixtrix motor has made improvements to standard electric bike motors by having a dual system that uses a non-e bike groupset to handle the conventional pedalling and a reinforced second chain and alloy sprocket for power assisted use. This second drive unit will be able to withstand 10 times the force comparable to a regular chain and sprocket. Without this dual system a 2000W electric bike would likely shake itself apart.
The bike chain to take care of the ‘traditional’ cycling pedal power is on the right-hand side of the electric bike and the reinforced chain that deals with the assisted power on the left side of the bike through an independent power transference system. Shifting gears while under power is no longer a problem with instant power delivery to the rear wheel, regardless of gearing or pedal cadence.
Currently in the UK and EU the Juggernaut XD would be classified as a moped, but we are beginning to see the introduction of S-pedelecs and more categories which may see high powered electric bikes legalised without a licence on our shores soon.
The Biktrix Juggernaut XD electric bike is said to be capable of “50+ km/h” (31+ mph), making it as fast as a moped. The speed is likely to exceed 31mph as the motor is also said to be slight above the stated 2000W.
