Yamaha have unveiled three new own-label electric bikes which include a urban, gravel and mountain bike variation. These bikes are intended to be available by the end of 2022. Yamaha has made significant investments in expanding its ability to manufacture and deliver electric motors.
Yamaha intends to build on its electric heritage, by putting their own products into the market. Yamaha already has deep history within the electric bike space, having created the first Power Assist System back in the 1990s which formed the basis of the world’s first production electric bike. More than 5 million of the Yamaha drive units sold in 2021 and they are now made at scale in Europe.
One of the electric bikes unveiled by Yamaha is a speed pedelec, dubbed B01, is a new prototype hybrid bike that “intelligently combines eBike S-Pedelec functionality with moped performance and all urban terrain ability.”
In the near future Yamaha will be releasing the new NEO’s - an accessible, smart and high quality “50cc - equivalent” electric scooter followed by their “125cc - equivalent”
