The WMC300FR is a prototype electric motorcycle / moped made by Whites Motorcycle Concepts and is being trialled by the Northamptonshire Police Force. The Motorcycle has an adaptation of White’s unique concept aerodynamic device, that the company created on their electric land speed superbike.
The performance benefits of White’s innovative changes are said to make this vehicle 15-20% more efficient than other similar vehicles. Battery life and range are one of the primary concerns with all electric vehicle ownership and White’s attempt to combat this by having dual, interchangeable batteries.This is especially important for a police force that cannot have inactive vehicles or extended downtime.
The WMC300FR incorporates the patented V-Duct technology, dramatically improving the efficiency of the motorcycle, and combined with the hybrid power assist motor, reduces CO2 emissions by 50%.
The detatchable batteries can be charged on a 3pin plug, meaning there is no requirement for more infrastructure or waiting. It is the ideal vehicle for a first responder, managing around 104mpg. The hybrid power assist system has been designed specifically for first responders, with power in the low speed range and spare in the ‘tank’ the bursts of speed.
The WMC300FR can be ridden on a car license due to having two front wheels. Allowing for reduced training costs.
The Venturi Duct, an air channel through the centre of the motorcycle, significantly reduces drag, improves performance and increases efficiency. The front fenders are also designed to ensure the smoothest airflow into the Venturi duct and further increase the efficiency. The standing assist system also helps with riding in urban areas, where riding involves more stops and starts.
